| Packing Tips | Other Helpful Hints | Who Should You Contact?

We have carefully compiled a list of helpful suggestions that will make your move smooth and easy for you and your family. These simple procedures will save time and provide a safe and efficient transfer to your new home.

Choose your moving date
Call us as far in advance as possible so the move can be scheduled for the day you prefer.

A well-organized move must be planned ahead. The beginning and end of each month is normally very busy in the moving industry, so if possible, choose a date during the other days of the month. If you decide to have us do the packing, we’ll come in a day or two before the move and complete the packing job.

Get an accurate estimate of all moving expenses
For you own peace of mind, know exactly what your moving expenses will be. In advance, we will go over exactly what needs to be done as far as the actual move. Be sure to point out any special packing and handling instructions, since special packing services and containers are available.

Let people know
Once you have chosen your move date, there are various people that should be informed. See our Contact Sheet for tips and reminders on whom to call.

Arrange lodging if necessary
If your move involves an overnight stay or two, try to arrange accommodations in advance. Certain areas may possibly have crowds in town for various reasons, so be sure you confirm your reservations. Don’t forget to save your receipts.

Make it a good experience
Moving can be a fun and memorable experience if it is done efficiently. Try to acquire maps for the trip itself, and for your new area. This will help reduce the stress of being in unfamiliar territory. If you do travel through unfamiliar areas, it’s a lot of fun to take pictures along the way. Long drives can be especially tough on kids. So make it more enjoyable by playing games, singing, telling stories, or pointing out interesting things you may encounter on the trip.

Pack an overnight bag and Survival Kit
Keep the things you need most at your fingertips by packing them in easy-access bags and in an area where you can get to them. Here are a few things you want to keep close:
• Check book/Credit cards/Cash and/or travelers checks

(for your own safety, do not travel with large sums of cash)
• List of credit card and other account numbers (in case of loss or theft)

• Keep any valuable jewelry in your immediate possession

• Vital phone numbers/Fully charged cell phone if possible

• Medications for family and/or pets
• Insurance documents/Medical & dental records
• Any other important paperwork
• Basic tools/Flashlights and batteries/Trash bags
• Cleaning needs/Bathroom needs
• Radio w/batteries
• Sheets and towels; pillows
• The usual over night items; toothbrushes, toiletries, etc.
• Appropriate clothing (don’t forget pajamas and even swimsuits for hotel stays)
• First aid kit
• Leash and pet food (if traveling with a furry friend)
• Snacks for the trip (a cooler stocked with soft drinks is also nice)
